A guided Bharatanatyam performance
December 9th, 2023
6:00pm onwards
Palimpsest House, Madurai
Neela Bhaskar is a Bharatanatyam dancer in the distinct style of T Balasaraswati, trained under (late) Shyamala Mohanraj, a disciple of Balasaraswati herself. Neela has been dancing since the age of six and is currently based in Hamburg, Germany. A thorough understanding of music is essential to this style of dance, Neela is therefore also trained vocalist. Her teachers include AR Sundaram (disciple of T Brinda), TR Murthy (disciple of T Viswanathan) and Brindha Manickavasagan.
Shreeraam Shankar will guide you throughout this recital, in which the traditional format of Bharatanatyam, or 'Margam', will be followed. The dance of the evening will include rare and unseen pieces from the extensive repertoire of T Balasaraswati.
Join us in this journey through space and time.

The Sumanth Collective is an initiative centred around three parallels: Create, Curate and Collaborate. The Palimpsest House resonates with this very idea and acts as a space that celebrates the arts. Through this initiative, Sumanth Ram hopes to explore and accentuate his thought process behind his collective.
